Band of Bodgers

Morghouls Mad Men

Posted by mbowsher76 on September 3, 2008

Faction: Skorne
Points: 347
Model Count: 10
Victory Points: 15

Master Tormentor Morghoul
Cyclops Savage
Cyclops Savage
Titan Cannoneer
Paingiver Beast Handlers [4] (0 added)
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew [2]

Well….as the only Hordes army in this group, as well as the least accomplished painter AND having the army with the most models…I have a lot going against me.  Not only does Morghoul’s feat not affect a single other player, but things like the Cankerworm (bonus against living models, my entire army!) and other factors are going to make this an absolute challenge.

So, while I expect to be beat to a pulp, I am going to do my best to learn my new army and finally be fully painted. I know the rest of the group doubts my ability to get this done, and while I cannot make promises of excellent paint jobs, I will do my best and try to prove everyone wrong.

Regarding how this will play…as I said before, the Cankerworm scares the bejeebus out of me, and the Behemoth and Sorscha are not going to be nice either. Kraye is just wrong….light cav acting light jacks and boosted attack rolls on the T-Heads energy pulse….sniffle….

My early composition was pretty simple. As we are going to scale this and eventually get to 750, I wanted a warlock that I could eventually switch to his epic version. I brought beast handlers because they are essentially that “must include” for me when playing beast heavy. The substitution of a cannoneer over a gladitator was simply to have some ranged ability in my list. The savages will be nice melee beasts and the gobbers should help to avoid some ranged attacks early on.

So there you have it…my list. I hope to have an update by the end of the week with some actual progress on my painting.

Day One: Making Mortars More Menacing

Posted by Tom Richter on September 2, 2008

I didn’t get a whole lot accomplished in the first day. Here’s a pretty crappy picture of my new improved Mortars. I’ll be building carriages for them to make them look transportable. My plan is to chop up an old as hell out of print Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf Anvil of Doom to make simple little carts to attach those more menacing beauties to.

Like I said previously, I never liked the Mortar model it really seemed too small to pack the range and distance it delivers. Now my opponents will learn to fear some respectable artillery pieces. Day two should see the completion of these bad boys and then it’ll be on to giving the Behemoth a make over.

Victim of my conversion.

Victim of my conversion.

Here’s a nice picture of the model I’ll be hacking to bits. I’m considering using the anvil as a base for something down the line, but it would require removing a lot of the details. Probably a waste of time, really what am I going to put standing on an anvil anyway?

Kraye’s cool-sounding something-or-other

Posted by Krystal Frazee on August 28, 2008

Faction: Cygnar
Points: 349
Model Count: 6
Victory Points: 13

Captain Jeremiah Kraye
Grenadier
Thunderhead
Stormsmith
Trencher Chain Gun Crew    [2]

I played Cryx for two years or so, and then took a very long break from playing Warmachine. I got too frustrated with overly-complicated rules and having to remember way too many other models’ abilities. I like the idea of this project, though, because it encourages painting a lot more than finding the “perfect list.” I get to play with models I like.

I don’t have Kraye’s model yet, although I will in a day or so. All I have to go on are the tidbits posted about him in the forums. Kraye was one of those models I absolutely had to have the moment his picture was released, though, because I think it’s the nicest-looking model Privateer Press has put out.  I’d buy him even if his rules were horrible.

As for the other models I’ve chosen, the Grenadier is widely regarded as horrible. I’m rather fond of it, anyway. I’m hoping to at least make some use out of it in my list. Trenchers are for helping out the Grenadier. The Thunderhead, is, well, kind of awesome. The Stormsmith is doomed to run out, hide inside a building, and have the building come crashing down upon him in the most humiliating way possible. But I had a few extra points, so I figured, why not put him in there anyway?

We all start painting our lists on September 1st, and come together and play each other at the end of the month. This is going to be so much fun!

Iron Lich’s Iron Lynch

Posted by diretrolljake on August 25, 2008

Faction: Cryx
Points: 350
Model Count: 9
Victory Points: 13

Iron Lich Asphyxious
Cankerworm
Deathripper
Defiler
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist
Skarlock Thrall
Withershadow Combine    [3]

My list is based on my newfound love for the Cankerworm and what better way to exploit this little bugger than with his master and creator, Asphyxious ? My plans include corrosion, spell slingin’, and healthy dose of Lich beatdowns.

I have played all factions aside from Cygnar multiple times so I am not aiming for anything special other than fun so don’t expect to see any Bane Knight’s or Bile Thralls unless we go past 750 into the 1k range, even then, I will likely grab something else along the lines of Blackbane and some Deathjack.

Kommander Sorscha’s Rain of Death

Posted by Tom Richter on August 25, 2008

Faction: Khador
Points: 336
Model Count: 8
Victory Points: 14

Kommander Sorscha Kratikoff
Behemoth
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt
Winterguard Mortar Crew
Winterguard Mortar Crew

As you can see I went for a fairly small and simple list to begin with. Being currently out of work I probably could have put in a few extra models without having to worry about the deadline to get everything done by the end of August, but I really want to take some extra time on these models. First of all I’ve never been a fan of the Behemoth model and I’m going to be giving it a serious overhaul. An overhaul I expect to take up a lot of my time in this first month. As a Cygnar player I ran a melee centric Epic Stryker list for quite some time and decided to go with a more ranged approach. I had a hard time deciding what to play until I decided to build up around a solid base of Winterguard. Who better to lead the Winterguard that Kommander Sorscha.

Also I threw in Holt and Aiyana to ensure that I get around to painting them sooner than later.
