Morghouls Mad Men

Faction: Skorne
Points: 347

Victory Points: 15

Master Tormentor Morghoul
Cyclops Savage
Cyclops Savage
Titan Cannoneer
Paingiver Beast Handlers [4] (0 added)
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew [2]

Well….as the only Hordes army in this group, as well as the least accomplished painter AND having the army with the most models…I have a lot going against me.  Not only does Morghoul’s feat not affect a single other player, but things like the Cankerworm (bonus against living models, my entire army!) and other factors are going to make this an absolute challenge.

So, while I expect to be beat to a pulp, I am going to do my best to learn my new army and finally be fully painted. I know the rest of the group doubts my ability to get this done, and while I cannot make promises of excellent paint jobs, I will do my best and try to prove everyone wrong.

Regarding how this will play…as I said before, the Cankerworm scares the bejeebus out of me, and the Behemoth and Sorscha are not going to be nice either. Kraye is just wrong….light cav acting light jacks and boosted attack rolls on the T-Heads energy pulse….sniffle….

My early composition was pretty simple. As we are going to scale this and eventually get to 750, I wanted a warlock that I could eventually switch to his epic version. I brought beast handlers because they are essentially that “must include” for me when playing beast heavy. The substitution of a cannoneer over a gladitator was simply to have some ranged ability in my list. The savages will be nice melee beasts and the gobbers should help to avoid some ranged attacks early on.

So there you have it…my list. I hope to have an update by the end of the week with some actual progress on my painting.

Day One: Making Mortars More Menacing

Posted by Tom Richter on September 2, 2008

I didn’t get a whole lot accomplished in the first day. Here’s a pretty crappy picture of my new improved Mortars. I’ll be building carriages for them to make them look transportable. My plan is to chop up an old as hell out of print Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf Anvil of Doom to make simple little carts to attach those more menacing beauties to.

Like I said previously, I never liked the Mortar model it really seemed too small to pack the range and distance it delivers. Now my opponents will learn to fear some respectable artillery pieces. Day two should see the completion of these bad boys and then it’ll be on to giving the Behemoth a make over.

Victim of my conversion.

Victim of my conversion.

Here’s a nice picture of the model I’ll be hacking to bits. I’m considering using the anvil as a base for something down the line, but it would require removing a lot of the details. Probably a waste of time, really what am I going to put standing on an anvil anyway?
